Sliders are so fun to make whether it be for your family, a small get gather or for a party. There are hundreds of takes on this American favorite, but we are going classic with this recipe and adding a fun twist with our Pita Puffs!
I made these in under 45 minutes for my girls and husband and I'm proud to say, they ate every.single.slider. Success! The Pita Puffs were the perfect vessel for the juicy meat and oooey, gooey cheese and bonus, they were so cute!
As we say in Arabic, Sahtain o Hana! [enjoy in bliss]
Ingredients
- 2 pouches of Baba's Pita Puffs or 18 puffs
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 1 lb. ground beef (I used 80/20)
- 1 teaspoon sour cream and onion mix (or any spice mix you like to use with your burgers)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 5 slices American Cheese, divided into four pieces
- Dill pickles (18 slices)
- Ketchup
- Mustard
- Evoo or 1 tablespoon melted butter
Directions
Step 1: Preheat oven to 400 degrees F on conventional.
Step 2: Butter the sides and bottom of a 8 x 8 baking dish.
Step 3: In a medium size bowl, add onions, ground beef, spices, salt and pepper and mix well.
Step 4: Gently pat your meat mix into the baking dish so it is nice and even making a large hamburger patty.
Step 6: Once meat is finished cooking, slice meat into 9 even pieces using a pizza cutter.
Step 7: Assemble your casserole. In your baking dish, place the 9 pieces of puffs in 3 rows. Add 1 slice of cheese to each followed by a hamburger patty, another slice of cheese, 2 dill pickles, ketchup and mustard. Top each slider with another puff.
Step 8: Brush evoo or melted butter on top of each puff.
Step 9: Wrap with tinfoil and bake for another 15-20 minutes until cheese has mostly melted.
Step 10: Remove from oven and sahtain! [enjoy]
I want to make these delicious looking puff sliders for the fam tomorrow, but don’t want to overcook beef! It looks like step 5 is missing from the recipe instructions! How long should I cook beef at 400F the first round of cooking??? Thank you!!!
